Located in spacious grounds and a superb garden setting, St Ives High School has a proud tradition of excellence in curricular and extra-curricular activities.

St Ives High School is developing close links with neighbouring primary schools in matters of curriculum, sharing of facilities and programs for gifted and talented children. We were the first government High School in the State to establish a specially selected accelerated Year 7 class in 1993. This successful programme has enabled a number of students to complete their School Certificate and HSC subjects, a year in advance of their cohort.

Teaching resources are of an extremely high standard.

The school encourages every student to reach a level of full potential in every activity. At the HSC examination, students consistently achieve results far above the State wide averages. For many years at least 20% of Year 12 Students, have scored in the top 10% of the State. 40% of students would be in expected to come in the top 20% of the State and 75% receive an offer to a tertiary institution. Special programs are offered for those from non-English speaking backgrounds, those with learning difficulties and physical disabilities.

The school enjoys strong parental and community support for its traditions of excellence in a variety of academic, sporting and cultural pursuits.

Special features includes:
  • Dramatic, Dance and Musical productions
  • Instrumental and Choral performances
  • Visual Arts and Design & Technology exhibitions
Students also excel in the realm of community services, assisting many charities as voluntary helpers and collectors. Leadership development is fostered through an active Student Representative Council, Public Speaking, Debating, Mock Trial activities and International Visits.

The School Motto - OPTIMA OPTIME - is a Latin Quotation.
The English translation is: "The best possible things in the best possible way"
