Posted December 20, 20011 At this joyous time of year, it is with great sadness that we report the passing of a wonderful Year 11 student, Nikki Tongue. She passed away in her sleep early Saturday December 17. Nikki was a student in the St Ives Support H Unit, a member of the SRC and a Peer Support leader. She touched the lives of many with her enthusiasm and courage. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nikki's family and friends at this very difficult time.

7T and 8T GaT students present their Rich Tasks |

A Rich task is one which is multilayerd and it allows our T students to develop a love of learning without the constraints of individual subjects. Students were able to direct their own learning by choosing a topic to research (7T) or a "what if" scenario to investigate (8T). The photos show excited 7T and 8T students, as they arrived to present their Rich task in front of their parents. The students acquitted themselves very well when asked to talk about their research and answer questions from the audience. Most did this with confidence and enthusiasm. In addition to the formal part of the evening, students set up a table with a "product" and a supper item relating to their topic which demanded a fair amount of creativity. The photos show just a small selection of the wonderful work from these two classes. Congratulations to all our 7T and 8T students and a big thank you to the teachers who mentored them so well, and came to support them on Monday night, in particular Mrs Melville and Mrs Cooper who marked the students' verbal responses.
