The St Ives High School P & C Association is a vital element of the St Ives High School community.
The P & C is involved in a wide range of on-going activities including:
- Strategic planning, budgeting and direction of the activities of St Ives High School;
- Operation of the school’s Canteen and Uniform Shop; Canteen Volunteers Needed Urgently
- Support of the school’s IT activities;
- Grounds maintenance and improvement;
- Fund raising;
- Development of the school’s musical bands; and
- Year 12 graduation.
The P & C Association’s funding comes from voluntary parent contributions (some of which is tax deductible) and from specific fund raising, and is used to compliment the limited funding provided by the NSW Government. The money is used to provide equipment and services which enhance the quality of education at St Ives High School. Major projects funded by the P & C over the last few years include:
- Purchase of new computers and softwareand cabling infrastructure;
- Landscaping of the school grounds at the canteen area off Horace Street, the Hunter Ave roundabout and at the entrances to the Administration Building;
- Development of the school’s website and intranet link;
- Conversion of a storage area into a functional classroom facility;
- Upgrading of the school’s hospitality kitchens;
- Upgrading of the school hall;
- Support of the annual musical; and
- 2004 Library Development Fund. As a result of the generosity of parents and the business community, the new library was fitted out with data projectors and screens, sound systems, a wireless computer environment and 25 laptop computers.

- Refurbishment of the basketball courts (co-funded by Department of Education Science & Training and P&C)
The P & C’s strategic plan and budget for each year are developed by the P & C Executive (as elected by P & C members at the AGM each October) and then discussed and endorsed by the P & C at a regular meeting. This ensures that all parents have the opportunity to contribute to the setting of the direction of the P & C for the year. Thereafter, the P & C Executive manages the activities of the P & C to ensure that plans and budgets are achieved. These are reported on at each meeting, to ensure all activities of the P & C remain transparent to the parents who contribute funds to the P & C.
